Listening — anywhere your cursor blinks

Step 01 / 04

One hotkey. Every app.

Mail, Slack, Xcode, WhatsApp, that one weird legacy tool — if a cursor blinks there, Doggy types there. Hold the key, talk, release. Done.

Step 02 / 04

Speak like a human. Read like a writer.

Umms, ahhs and false starts are stripped out before they land. Punctuation goes where it should. What you meant, not what you mumbled.

Works in 108 languages, with hardware echo cancellation so it hears you — not your speakers.

Cleanup — live

You said:
uhh can we umm move the the the release to friday i mean thursday

It typed:
Can we move the release to Thursday?

Step 03 / 04

Teach it your words.

Say “my email” and your address types itself. Build snippets for anything you repeat, and a dictionary for the names and jargon it should never misspell.

Try it — tap a phrase you'd say:

Snippets — tap to “say” one

It types:

Step 04 / 04

Casual in WhatsApp. Sharp in Mail.

Attach a writing style to an app — or to a hotkey. Say it once, and it lands the way that app expects. Same voice, right register, zero editing.

Styles — one sentence, three apps

Why we built it

Our hands were too slow for our heads. Ideas arrived at talking speed and left at typing speed — so one weekend we taught the Mac to listen.

Dictation Doggy is still made the same way: a tiny indie team, no growth department, no ad budget. Just an app we use all day, every day — and keep making faster.

When you email support, the person who wrote the code replies.

Who it's for

Whatever you type, say it instead.

Developers

Dictate commit messages, PR summaries, and code comments without leaving the keyboard's home row — because you never touched it.

AI power users

Great prompts are long. Speak a whole paragraph of context into ChatGPT or Claude in the time it takes to type a sentence.

Everyone drowning in messages

Clear your inbox and your unread DMs on a walk. Doggy keeps the tone right for each app.

The math

You speak ~150 words a minute.
You type ~40.

That gap is your day. Doggy closes it — and the text lands in milliseconds, so it never feels like waiting.

A 300-word email: ~7.5 min typed~2 min spoken. Every time.

Featherlight

Some AI dictation apps sit near 10% CPU all day and hold ~900 MB of memory. Doggy is a menu-bar app, not a second operating system.

Roughly 9× less memory and a rounding error of CPU. Your battery will notice. Measured on our own Macs during everyday use.

Polyglot

Speaks 108 languages.

Doggy detects the language you're speaking automatically — and regional accents are first-class citizens, from Egyptian Arabic to Swiss German.

iPhone · coming soon

The same trick, in your pocket.

The Dictation Doggy keyboard will work inside every iPhone app — same cleanup, same snippets, same dictionary, synced with your Mac. It's in the works right now.

Did the new build fix the sync bug?

Small on purpose

What indie gets you.

Featherlight

A menu-bar app, not a platform. It sits quietly until you hold the key.

Private by design

FAQ

Good questions.

Is my audio private?

Yes. Your audio is processed securely, used only to produce your transcription, and discarded immediately after. We never sell your data or use it to train third-party models.

How accurate is it — and does it remove filler words?

Very. Doggy transcribes with near-perfect accuracy, then cleans up the result — removing filler words, fixing grammar, and formatting it.

Which apps does it work in?

Any app that accepts keyboard input — Mail, Slack, VS Code, Notion, Word, your browser, and more. It works system-wide on your Mac.

How light is it, really?

It idles around 0.1% CPU and roughly 100 MB of memory on our Macs — a menu-bar app, not a second operating system.

Which languages are supported?

108 of them, including English, Spanish, French, German, Mandarin, and many more. The app automatically detects the language you're speaking.

What do I need to run it?

A Mac running macOS 14.0 or later, plus an internet connection for the highest-accuracy AI models.

Does it work offline?

Not yet — Doggy uses cloud AI models for top accuracy, so it needs an internet connection.

How does pricing work?

You start with a free trial — 10,000 words, no card needed. After that, $5/mo for 20,000 words or $10/mo for 100,000 words. Cancel anytime.

Which microphones work?

Any microphone macOS recognizes — the built-in mic, AirPods, or external USB and studio mics.
